One Year Old Today

Today my blog is one year old. I can't believe that has been one year since I started this. Simply amazing.

My very first post was about my Junior. She had just been diagnosed with cancer. She was able to stay with me until November. Then it all became too much for her. Even though I had three months to prepare, I wasn't ready and was taken by surprise at how quickly it took her in the end.

Since then, I've lost two of my other babies. All to cancer and all within 3 months of each other. Boy, now that sucked. I'm mean really sucked. Gingie and Patchie went even faster. Such a horrible, horrible disease.

Then on the very day I lost Patchie, Blackie, who was the mother of Junior and Ginger had a stroke. When I walked into the vets with Blackie, even my wonderful vet Mervyn couldn't believe what had happened. He was so good to me and Blackie. Under normal circumstances, I'm quite sure there would have been only one answer he would have given. However, he wanted to give it a go and see if Blackie could be helped. And seven months later she's still here and doing extremely well.

It took a lot of hard work and total dedication as she needed 24 hour care in those first few weeks. She couldn't eat, stand, walk or use the kitty litter by herself. But slowly she regained all her abilities back. She's still a bit of a wonky girl, but lives a very happy and very spoilt life.

Doing this blog has also forced me to do more cards and try and think outside my normal thought pattern. Now that can only be a good thing.

So thank you to those who have stopped and been stopping by to check out my little world. As you know, I don't normally post anything about my life, just my cards. I've never been into talking about myself very much. I hope you will keep visiting me as it makes me so happy seeing new names and places on my counters. I still think it's just amazing that someone from the other side of the world (and anywhere) will click on and visit my little blog.
